Senior Lecturer, College of African Wildlife Management
Dr. Emanuel H. Martin is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Wildlife Management, and Quality Assurance Coordinator of the College since February 2023. He holds a PhD in Wildlife Management from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) since 2016, an MSc. in Management of Protected Areas from University of Klagenfurt- Austria since 2009 and a BSc. Wildlife Management from SUA since 2002. He has extensive experience of working in Protected areas both within and outside Tanzania where he was involved in conducting monitoring programs on mammals, vegetation and climate. Currently, Dr. Martin is a Coordinator for a three-year project at the College for Developing Curricula for Biodiversity Monitoring and Conservation in Tanzania abbreviated as CONTAN (2021 –2024) funded by European Union under Erasmus+ program. He has also been, a Principal Investigator (PI) for two projects in Udzungwa Mountains - Tanzania namely “Effects of defaunation on vegetation dynamics and carbon storage in Afromontane 2018 - 2019” (funded by National Geographic Society); “Using permanent vegetation plots to measure thermophilization in African Mountains of Tanzania and Rwanda 2020-2022” (Funded by British Ecological Society). As a College’s full time Lecturer, Dr. Martin teaches various courses among them include Population and Ecosystem Management at Master Degree level and Protected Area Planning, Habitat Management, Wildlife Ecology at under graduate level
