The Instagram data has been part of most of the younger generation and is used a lot to highlight cool and trending night spots in New York City. The purpose of this study is to find such trending night time restaurants in New York City and see where most people go. The theory behind it is that for a month of June 2018, if the frequency of number of hashtags for times of night (10pm to 2am), is higher than others, those restaurants are usually more instagrammed and thus highly trending online. This gives us an idea of the social night scene in New York City for restaurants. There obviously is a limitation in this data that it does not tell us the ground truth. The ground truth can be much different.
